The great British pianist Keith Tippett's work with the Burt-MacDonald Quintet has been among the most inspired of the internationally regarded Scottish group's many collaborations. Tippett adds a distinctive percussive attach tempered by a natural lyricism to music that combines improvising rigour with gently reflective songs.
