All ages, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra joins forces with Black Top, the acclaimed duo of legendary pianist Pat Thomas and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson.

Black Top are a shape-shifting unit dedicated to exploring the intersection between live instrumentation and lo-fi technology.  Their freely improvised performances fuse twisted loops, samples and deep dub effects with a spontaneity rooted in experimental free jazz and their Afro-Caribbean heritage.

Here they collaborate with Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, described by BBC Radio 3 as “one of the best large improvising ensembles in the world.” This electrifying meeting unleashes fearless improvisation and boundary-pushing sound worlds, from shimmering textures to explosive rhythmic interplay and moments of striking intimacy. A rare convergence of visionary artists, this performance promises intensity, surprise and unrepeatable magic.

Step into a sonic landscape where nothing is fixed and everything is possible. This is music created on the edge of the moment, alive, unpredictable, and deeply human. Expect a performance that dissolves boundaries between composition and improvisation, where every gesture sparks new directions and every sound carries risk and discovery. Drawing on rich traditions of experimental jazz, electronic manipulation, and collective interplay, these artists invite you into a shared act of creation. No two performances are ever the same, and this one will exist only once – an unrepeatable encounter of energy, connection, and transformative musical imagination.
