Dean Rudland (DJ Set)
Be there for The Rebirth of The Hipster, an unmissable one-off rewind over two days marking 40 years of Glasgow Jazz Festival that features a specially commissioned modern jazz quartet live and carefully curated all-vinyl DJ sets. The music policy is aimed squarely at the dancefloor – modern Jazz, latin and soul-jazz, the real deal in an intimate basement venue.
The original Hipster club ran in Glasgow’s then ‘up-and-coming’ Merchant City for three years in the early ‘90s, showcasing the best in live jazz and the city’s top jazz DJs, running for 10 consecutive nights during the Jazz Festival one year.
On Saturday, hold tight for our guest DJ from London, Dean Rudland. Dean is right-hand man to Eddie Piller at Acid Jazz and co-compiler of the Totally Wired compilations. He’s the man behind the relaunch of EMI’s Stateside label in the UK and label boss of Ace Records’ funk, mod and soul imprint, BGP.
Resident DJs Steven Watt (High Street Funk & Soul), Martin Gavin (Original Hipster DJ and Caledoniasoul).
