William Ellis ‘One LP’ Exhibition: 18th May until 28th June

Presented by Street Level Photoworks in association with Glasgow Jazz Festival 2026.

‘One LP’ is a unique and critically acclaimed portrait photography project that explores the inspirational qualities of recordings and the impact that they have on people’s lives. Each portrait features the subject holding a recording that is of fundamental importance to them. The photograph is accompanied by a short interview that explores the meaning and value of the selected album. The series includes a range of internationally known jazz musicians, including Annie Ross, Gregory Porter, Jack Bruce, Soweto Kinch and dozens of others. A section within the exhibition is devoted to Miles Davis, on the occasion of his centenary in 2026.

Bill Ellis is widely acknowledged as having created an important document of the contemporary jazz scene and is a Visiting Research Fellow in Photographing Popular Music Culture, Faculty of Arts, Design and Media in Birmingham City University.

Exhibition runs 18th May – 28th June 2026
