Pejla

Pejla are a Scottish-Scandanavian indie-jazz band consisting of Adrian Ortman (drums), Danielle Price (tuba) and Martin Lee Thomson (euphonium) . Brought together by a common thread of improvisation, they began collaborating as individuals in 2020, building their own sound world through a series of projects blending music with visual art and text. They were featured artists in YABAI-FEST 2021 and Britten Pears Young Artist Programme Ensemble in Residence 2023, subsequently touring the UK and Sweden with their project “Situational Soundtrack.” From these beginnings, they formed Pejla in 2024. With roots in jazz, folk and experimental music combined with modern influences from artists including Dinosaur, Laura Jurd and Big Bad Wolf, this unlikely group walk the line between genres, mixing together energetic grooves with quirky synths and infectious low brass melodies.
